Thursday

Today I helped lucy force feed. We moved the larger snakes to seperate cages and fed them. I recorded the feeding records. I took the mice out of the baby cages that weren't eaten. Then I gathered the snakes that where going to be force fed. I tubed the snakes while lucy force fed. We also extracted from 4 corals.

Wednesday

I checked my room temps. I then gathered the things to continue cleaning the Balb/c mouse room. I cleaned out the food container and refilled it. I cleaned 41 of the breeder cages. I took out my trash and swept and mopped the floor.

Tuesday

Today I came in and took the snake room temperatures. Then I gathered some cages and things I needed to begin cleaning the Balb/c mouse room. I changed the large cages to new clean ones. There were 26 large cages that I changed. I put all the dirty cages in the dirty cage room. I threw out my trash. I prewashed some cages and put them in the cage washer. I continued to clean the room I cleaned 25 of the breader cages and replaced them with new ones. I threw my trash and mopped and cleaned up. I took the dirty cages to the dirty cage room.

Friday

Today I came in and gathered the corral snakes in 111 and took them to room 103 so we could force feed them. I set up the area so we could force feed. I checked the room temps in 111 and 115 and recorded them. Then Lucy and I began to force feed the corrals. We fed six of them. Then I cleaned the plastic tubes and went to assist Juan in medicating the sick snakes. Lucy took over so I could water the mice in the BAlB/c mouse room. She helped me when they finished. Then we went to watch Juan clean the Forest Cobras. We assisted in the cleaning of the two cages and cleaning up afterwards. Then Lucy and I began to cut paper for the snakes.

Wednesday

Today I finished cleaning the mouse room and made 5 new cages out of the hoppers. I sacrificed the mice and counted them and placed them in the freezer. I took out my trash and put the dirty cages in the dirty cage room.

tuesday

Today I cleaned 56 mouse cages. I also checked the room temperatures in the snake rooms. I took out my trash and vacuumed and mopped my mouse room.

friday

Today I came in and took my room temps. I then started to take the mice out of the baby snake cages that weren't eaten. I cleaned one of the cages. Then I went and removed the mice that didn't get eaten in the quarantine rooms. Then also in the atrox room 115. After that I began changing the water dishes in 111 and continued to clean cages. I cleaned 33 including the one baby cage. Then I went to 104 and cleaned 9 cages. I took out my trash and then began to water the mammals in the Balb-c and HCR/1 mouse rooms.

Wednesday

Today I came in and took my room temperatures. Then I turn the cage washer on. Bruno and I clean 9 snake cages before Mark came to extract. I processed the venom. I cleaned up when I finished and placed the venom in the freezer. I stamped some paper and then took out mice to feed the snakes the next day.

Tuesday

Today I came in and Juan told me to clean out the food bucket for the HCR/1 mouse room. I did that and through out the old food I cleaned the bucket and vacuumed around the bucket then I gathered the things I needed to clean the room. I clean 20 breeder cages and around 9 holding cages. I made 2 new cages out of the hoppers. I took the dirty cages to the dirty cage room and vacuumed and mopped the floor in the mouse room. I cut 5 packs of paper for the snakes and placed them in the supply room. After that I helped lucy take the snakes that were going to be extracted from to room 103. Then I cut parafilm and got things ready so I could process the venom. I pippetted for a while then bruno took over. When I came back from class I unloaded the cage washer and put the cages back in the cage room. Then I got some more cages and prewashed them in the sink. I placed them in the cage machine so they could be washed tomorrow. I stamped the paper that bruno cut and placed them in the supply room.

Thursday

Today I came in and took my room temps. I gathered 14 day old mice and 14 fuzzies. I got the feeding clip board and started recording the snakes that we were going to feed. We fed the spitting cobras in the display and in room 102. We cleaned five cages in the quarantine rooms. We fed all the skinny snakes and three that were not eating in the quarantine room. They were fed with vitamine filled mice. Then we fed the snakes in room 111 we cleaned 3 cages and also fed the baby snakes. We fed 139 snakes total. After that I went to the supply room to look for pee cups but did not find them. Then I assisted in the relocation of the lypholized venom. after lunch we extracted I helped pippet and hold the tubed snakes when I had to. I cleaned up the area I was working in and placed the venom in the freezer. Lucy showed me how to inject the mice in the back and I did it. We also had a safety meeting and we had to handle and tube the coach whip.

Tuesday and Wednesday

Tuesday I cleaned around 79 mouse cages. That includes the gathering of materials and cleaning up after. I also took my room temps. Today I finished the mouse room. I pippetted for the extraction. I sexed out my mice and made 6 new cages. I sacrificed the left over mice and placed them in the freezer. I cleaned up my room and to out the trash and finished for the day.
